There are many ways to save money on home improvement jobs. I will try to give you a few ideas on how to save some money on your home projects.
One way to save is to recycle materials. Most major urban areas have stores that sell used building materials. Most of these materials where installed in another home and business. When that space was remodeled or destroyed the material was saved and brought to these resale shops.
Some items that are normally really good for your project would be ceramic tile. You may have to clean some old dried mastic off the back of the tiles. This is usually fairly easy and can save a tremendous amount of money.
Another great way to save money is to do as much of the remodeling you can by yourself. A good example was when I remodeled my kitchen I bought stock unfinished cabinets. Once I installed the cabinets I had to finish them myself. This took approximately one extra day. However I saved hundreds of dollars over the cost of already finished cabinets.
The biggest way to save money is to plan your projects around the sales at home improvement stores. I once remodeled three rooms in my home at the same time. It took a little longer to get the jobs finished then if I would have just done one at a time. The difference was I saved hundreds of dollars by only working on the rooms when I could get the items needed at a considerable savings because of sales.

This H5N1 bird flu is scary or what?
Yeah they made the pandemic version in a laboratory, and if it escaped what a disaster, but it seems the result of that experiment they did suggests that this thing is going to really be on. I mean, they just rubbed ferrets' noses together and the thing mutated! Aside from some irrational dictator cooking this up with a row of ferret cages, a naturally arising pandemic would lead to finger-pointing and irrational behavior possibly. So, home-grown vegetables and alternative power seem like good at-home projects right now eh? Extra big sack of rice and beans in the pantry... what do you think?
This link refers to the study done in the Netherlands:
http://www.virusinfluenza.net/crofs-h5n1-more-on-weaponized-h5n1/
There was an article that referred to the study in more detail on RT.com, but that article doesn't seem to be there right now. Five previously detected gene mutations merged to occur together as the virus was applied from one ferret to another at first, and it went airborne. All in a controlled environment of course.
Starting at culinary school soon, anything I should know or have on hand?
I've been cooking since I was 8 yrs old so i know about that more or less, I'm more curious about what I should have like cook books etc. I know I need a knife set which I buy through the school and my text books but some of the things are at home projects and I'm not sure if there's any specialty things I might want to get or any books with food related info that might help me.
